Young and Talented would like to thank everyone that came down to the Mark Your Mind Event for Young Minds Tower Hamlets at Oxford House on Saturday the 11th of February. Our event welcomed Jordan and Mariam, leaders in the community, to speak to the audience about the stigma and issues that surround mental health. We loved having them and hearing about their own experiences. We extend a special thank you for being so open with our audience about their own struggles.
Our young performers had a chance to shine at the event. The audience was treated to singing, acting and dance, including a sneak peak of our teens performing their Jack Petchey Glee Club entry. The midis did a fantastic bit of text with a strong positive message and sang the touching Read All About It. Our minis stole the show with their You’ve Got A Friend In Me routine.
The event was interactive and we had a great audience who participated in our quiz and frozen pictures. The images highlighting words and conditions surrounding mental health were beautiful, powerful and engaging.
The event was supported by our Silver Arts Awards students Ella, Denni, Zech, Cheyenne, Sophie and Dorcas. They helped organise the event and prepared our lovely refreshments area. In addition they also raised money for Children In Need.
We hope you enjoyed the event and a big thanks to the whole team at Young and Talented
