On April 30th our Take The Stage Youth Theatre Festival took place at The Broadway Theatre Barking. The festival was a huge success and we loved seeing our young people shine. It featured four gripping plays written specifically for young people and directed by JMK Award winner Roy Alexander Weise. The fantastic set design and costumes were created by Charlie Cridlan. All of the performers were part of our Broadway Youth Theatre School and it was a celebration of all the team and student’s hard work this year.

The day started with a beautiful performance of The Drawing Board by Ashley Joseph. It was performed by our talented minis group, who stole the audience’s hearts

This was followed by our midis who brought lots of energy and charisma to the stage with The Dinner Ladies written by Y&T team Tyler Mitchell and Roy Alexander Weise.

The second part of the day was devoted to two thought provoking dramas.

First on the stage was Zones written by Y&T alumni Emma Dennis-Edwards. Our teens really encapsulated their characters and delivered a strong and engaging performance.

We ended the night with the dark and revolutionary Zero For The Young Dudes! by Alistair McDowall. This was our National Theatre Connections production that we transferred to The Soho Theatre in the West End. A challenging and dark work, our seniors smashed their performance at their home base at The Broadway.

Young and Talented would like to thank all of our team, students and family members for all of their support on the day. Thanks you for coming.  Please view all of the pictures from the shows on our Pinterest page.
